ANGELA
 The Angela was a 420foot by 80 foot, steel hulled cement barge,
which displaced 8,512 gross tons. In March of 1971 the Angela was
under tow from NJ to Boston with 26,000 barrels of cement. Heavy
seas and fog forced the captain of her tug to anchor the barge. His
plan was to return once the sea had calmed. Unfortunately, the
storm reversed its wind. The Angela broke anchor and drifted into
the rocks. When the tug returned the Angela was found aground on Hen
and Chickens Reef off Westport MA.
Today the Angela still sits exposed and awash on Hen and Chickens
Reef. Diver Bill Carter recovered over 50 portholes from this wreck.
The hull has collapsed quite a bit but is still nice to explore on
calm days.
