IDENE

The steel hulled fishing dragger Idene was 120 feet long. After a life of fishing in the Atlantic the old ship was considered obsolete. The Idene sat at her dock for years, rusting into an old hulk.

In 1991 the Idene was towed 4 miles South of Block Island and sunk as an artificial reef.

According to Don Snyder in his book Rhode Island Adventure Diving II this wreck sits upright and intact in 85 feet of water and is also known as the Hollywood Wreck. Capt Eric Takakjian reports that the top of the wrecks pilot house is at 60 feet. The wreck sits on a white sand bottom and is an easy dive.
