HARRY GLEN

The wood hulled dragger Harry Glen was built in 1959. On January 29, 1989 she was caught in gale force winds. The dragger struggled for hours as the sea continued to grow. Its unclear if she started to leak or just took water over her gunnels. In either case the Harry Glens pumps could not keep up with the rising water in her bilge. Her Captain called the Coast Guard. His call was heard by another fishing vessel the area. All of the Harry Glens crew were rescued before she went down. The exact location of the Harry Glen is not known but she sits in approximately 180 feet of water, five miles south of Nantucket.
