CITY OF SALISBURY
 The steel hulled British freighter City of Salisbury was built in
Sunderland, England in 1924.She was 419 feet long had a 54 foot beam
and displaced 6000 tons.
On April 22, 1938 she was entering Boston Harbor in a dense fog when
she ran aground on pinnacle rock. Part of the ships cargo included
zoo animals from India, jute and rubber. All of her crew, and most
of her cargo including the animals were saved. The wreck now lies
scattered on both sides of Graves Ledge.
According to diver Bill Carter the wreck sits in 30 to 70 feet of
water. Bill reports scattered hull plates and some of her cargo of
jute remaining.
