SOUTH SEAS Miami
The South Seas was a 175 foot steel yacht sunk on February 5, 1983.
She was owned by the Woolworth family and is said to be the sister
ship to Hitler's personal yacht. Bill Schell, a noted historian on
ships, doubted the connection to Hitler's yacht, which was named
Grille, and was a very large vessel. The South Seas had been a
floating bar at the Flamingo Marina when she sank at her slip. She
was re-floated, towed offshore and re-sunk as a reef. Diver, Don
Scholen, reports that the South Seas' engine room is located in her
bow section. Surrounded by the wreckage of six other ships, the
South Seas rests in 79 feet of water, and sea life abounds around
the wreckage.
