SHERI LYN Miami

The Sheri Lyn was a 235 foot long steel passenger freighter sunk on June 18, 1987, as an artificial reef. Captain Joel Auerbach was with one of the first group of divers to visit the wreck. Four years later, Joel and I dove this wreck, and found the name Mirach-N on the starboard side of her bow. This was her original name. After some research, Joel learned that she was built in Holland in 1952 and was powered by an 1100 hp Werkspoor diesel engine. The wreck now lies fully intact in 95 feet of water in the Key Biscayne reef area. The Sheri Lynn rises to within 45 feet of the surface.
