NOULA EXPRESS Broward County

The Noula Express is a 114 foot long Danish freighter that was built in 1939 as the Dana Land. She was 114 feet long, had a 23 foot beam and an eight foot draft. She was later sold in 1954 and renamed Trelan then Kormad. After being seized by the federal government in a drug case, the vessel was purchased by a joint committee from the Palm Beach and Broward County reef programs. She was then sunk on July 12, 1988, as an artificial reef.

Today she sits in 74 feet of water, one half mile off Boca Raton inlet. According to diver, Ed Murphy, the Noula sits upright and still has her bronze propeller mounted to her. Anne Harrington tells us that her main deck is at 65 feet and the pilot house is at 50 feet.
Remember penetration into any shipwreck should only be done by those with proper training, experience and wreck diving equipment. Scuba equipment like powerful dive lights, navigation reels, dive knives as well as redundant air supply like a pony bottle or doubles are standard gear for wreck divers.  Anne also told us about a little one man submarine, which was also used by drug dealers, that lies on the port side off the Noula's bow.
