HOUSEBOAT Ft. Lauderdale
This intact 70 foot shipwreck known as Houseboat or Old Houseboat
was sunk as an artificial reef in the mid 1970's. Originally named
Duzaway, she now rests in 90 feet of water and is completely covered
in soft corals and enveloped in bait fish. This wreck has gained
notoriety as the most colorful wreck in the Ft. Lauderdale area. A
strong current is occasionally present, and visibility can be a
little murky. Bring a camera since this site is often patrolled by
schools of large barracuda.
A few hundred yards northeast of the Houseboat lie the scattered
remains of three unidentified boats, all sunk to form a reef.
