BISCAYNE WRECK
Miami
This 120 foot freighter was intentionally sunk as an artificial reef
in 1974 near Key Biscayne. This wreck is also known as the Banana
Freighter as she was once used to haul bananas from Central America.
She now rests in 55 feet of water on a white sandy bottom. Also
called the Key Biscayne Wreck, she supports a large amount of fish
and coral, and due to her shallow depth has become a popular dive
site for the novice as well as experienced diver. Resting against
the stern of the Biscayne is the bow of the Miracle Express, another
vessel sunk as an artificial reef.
