CURB Key West
The Curb is an old 213 foot Navy cable layer that was sunk on
November 24, 1983, as an artificial reef. The Curb lies in 185 feet
of water off the lower Keys and only one mile south of the Cayman
Salvage Master. This wreck is not for everyone and is better left to
those with experience at deep diving. The Curb is completely intact,
and the shallowest spot on the wreck is in 120 feet, while her deck
can be reached at 165 feet. Visibility ranges from 60 to 100 feet.
Billy Deans reports that marine life is thick on the Curb. He
attributes this to the fact that she lies close to the ship channel
in an area that is heavy in nutrients.
