LA BERMUDA

It is said that the island, Bermuda, was named after the Spanish
ship, La Bermuda, which wrecked on the island's reefs around
1508. Other sources claim the name came from the Spaniard Juan
Bermudez, who is believed to have discovered the island. Whatever
the origin, the name Bermuda is certainly much more appropriate than
"Isle of the Devils", a name used by sailors before the island was
officially named. Unfortunately, the wreck of the La Bermuda,
if it really exists, has yet to be located.
